Dutch Development Cooperation
On May 15, 2000 a protocol between the Government of Aruba and the Netherlands, for the development cooperation beginning in the year 2000, was signed. The first long term program 2001-2005 was agreed for the sectors good governance, public health, sustainable economic development and education. It was also agreed that the financial means of the program will be managed by the Fondo Desaroyo Arubano (FDA). The new long term program 2006-2009 will initiate in 2006. The priority sectors in this long term program are: good governance, sustainable economic development, education and the social sector. It has been agreed that in 2007 between the Netherlands and Aruba there will be an evaluation in which among others the future of the development cooperation after 2009 will be discussed.
